Senior Awards Program
TUESDAY, MAY 28 All senior students, their parents, and guests are invited to attend the senior awards program. Students are expected to wear graduation gowns, but no caps. At this awards program, scholarships are announced and recognitions are given for various accomplishments. Students receiving a scholarship and/or award will be given written notification. If you do not receive a letter, you are still welcome to attend the awards program; however, your student does not have to wear the graduation gown, nor should he or she sit in the alphabetical order seating area. The distribution of scholarships and awards is based on a variety of criteria: financial need, academic merit, expected major in college study, or special talent or performance in school activities. The Hingham community is generous with awards for each graduating class. Local individuals, organizations, and businesses contributed approximately $350,000 in scholarship awards in 2018. |
Graduation Day!!
SATURDAY, JUNE 1 Graduation will be held rain or shine. Weather permitting the ceremony will be held outside on the turf field. (Smoking is not allowed on this surface.) Seating for spectators is limited to the large bleachers on the west side of the multi-purpose field. Seating is unreserved, and the area is handicapped accessible. Ushers will have programs available at all 3 entrances. All spectators are asked to stay off the track and infield area during the ceremony, and to stay seated while the graduates march off the field at the conclusion of the ceremony. If the weather is inclement, graduation will be held in the HHS gymnasium. Notification of this decision will be made by 6:00am and posted on our website. Because of limited seating in the gymnasium, graduates will be restricted to two guests (no tickets will be issued). Every graduating senior must report to the auditorium in a cap and gown by 9:15am for the 10:00am ceremony. Seniors are asked to wear appropriate dress. A George M. Loring Studio photographer will be present to take a photo of each student as they receive their diploma. Please check our website later in the week for further information to view the photographs. Shaun Galvin will be videotaping the graduation ceremony - please see the Galvin DVD Information sheet for ordering instructions. *** ANYONE WHO TAKES GREAT PHOTOS AT GRADUATION - please send them to [email protected] as soon as possible after graduation so the yearbook staff can put them in the supplement. THANK YOU! |
